What Can $300k Get You in Tucson AZ Real Estate?
In Tucson Arizona, $300k can get you quite a bit of home. In many American cities, $300k will not get you in the front door. Cities like LA, Chicago, San Francisco, and New York come to mind. Here in Tucson, you will have many options, from a small home on an acre to a large home in a nice neighborhood. In Tucson, the average home price is just under $200k, making a $300k buyer an “upper-end buyer.” You can find homes in the $300k range on every side of town. However, the smallest selection will be on the north side, which is Tucson’s most expensive area, where you should be able to find either a smaller home (about 1500 sq ft) or a very nice golf condo. In all other parts of town, you can expect to find a nice up-to-date, 2000 sq ft or greater, home on at least a 9000 sq ft lot. If you’re looking for more room, consider Vail, Marana, and Catalina, where a home on an acre plus will easily be available for $300k and under. Even larger homes (3000 sq ft and greater) can be found in Rancho Sahuarita, Sahuarita, Marana, and Tucson’s east, far southeast, and southwest sides of town.
Homes with a pool are also widely available. Most pools in Tucson Arizona average around $30-35k in price, and generally speaking, homes around 1800 sq ft with pools will price out to $300k or under. Overall, homes in this price range will offer almost anything that a buyer wants, within reason, and a lot of home can be purchased at this price point. Because our local real estate market has experienced a severe price decline of 25%-30% in most areas, many homes can be purchased at a discount. Just a few years ago, homes in areas like the Catalina Foothills and Oro Valley for $300k or under were rare. From 2004 to 2006, if they were available, the homes needed a major update or had other issues. Currently, lots of inventory is available and sellers are very willing to work with buyers to make a deal happen and get their homes sold.
