Casas Adobes features homes primarily constructed of burnt adobe and slump block. It has what most people in Tucson view as "Old Tucson" sentiment, a relaxed atmosphere, and offers a diverse personality and a high quality lifestyle of its own. Homes built in the 1970's and the 1980's are still frequented by coyotes, rabbits, javelina, and roadrunners. Many of the homes situated in Casas Adobes in Tucson Arizona (AZ) are located on 3/8 to 1 acre lots or more. More newly built homes throughout the area blend with the common style and architecture. The Casas Adobes district has been built out for quite some time. Community roots run deep in Casas Adobes, an unincorporated area north of Tucson between Oro Valley and Marana. Numerous attempts to incorporate have failed as recently as a couple years ago.
Residents of Casas Adobes say with delight that they live in Casas Adobes. Home prices are mostly in the $300,000 range. People from around Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, Green Valley, Catalina, Oracle, and other surrounding neighboring suburbs are drawn to Casas Adobes for the exclusive amenities offered. Casas Adobes is the home for Northwest Tucson's most unique shopping center (Casas Adobes Shopping Plaza), its own shopping mall (Foothills Mall), its own hospital (Northwest Medical Center), and even its own botanical park (Tohono Chul Park).
