El Conquistador
El Conquistador offers two 18 hole golf courses which provide stunning recreation and exceptional views. The fairways often look short as you stand on the tee. This is because most tee boxes are elevated and exceedingly narrow. The course plays every part of a precision desert course where accuracy is paramount. El Conquistador also offers many other activities other than the golf. It is a complete resort that is in high demand much of the year. Residents of the area receive an added bonus to be in such close proximity to it and all the resort offers.
Homes located around El Conquistador are situated within a housing area commonly referred to as Canada Hills. Canada Hills has a supply of homes for sale that start at the high 200's and can exceed in some situations just over $1,000,000. While most homes on the golf course start at $300,000 and beyond, La Reserve, a gated community just below Pusch Ridge, is a high exclusivity area that many high end homes are located within. To get to the Canada Hills area, take I-10 to Tangerine Rd and proceed eastward to El Conquistador at the base of Pusch Ridge.
The ridge looms large above some of the lushest saguaro and other cactus varieties the state of Arizona can present. Pusch Ridge was named after pioneer George Pusch, who came to Tucson from Germany in the 1870's and built a ranch near the ridge. It is part of the wilderness area in the Santa Catalina Mountains that includes 9,000 foot Mt. Lemmon, where there is a small community named Summerhaven, complete with a ski resort, which operates in the winter. There is also a lake for fishing in the summer.
