With the Tucson real estate market prices down over the past few years, many banks are doing "short sales" (allowing a borrower to sell the property for less than is owed on it with the rest of the loan amount forgiven). In this short sale situation, the bank will typically allow the property to be sold for under the market value so that they can keep from having to foreclose. This saves them money and eliminates the risks associated with holding homes for long periods of time. This "short sale" strategy is pretty straightforward.
